As part of the final exhibition of the year nineteen and the exhibition Documentary in Flux . Revisiting the C/O Berlin Talent Award, which looks back on almost 20 years of the award on the occasion of C/O Berlin's 25th birthday, C/O Berlin and the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie will come together to discuss central questions of promoting young talent. In an open exchange between the institution, students and experienced photographers, the focus will be on funding structures, award processes and the reality before and after an award.
Participants will receive reduced admission to the exhibition Documentary in Flux.
Veronika Epple is a junior curator at C/O Berlin. She is responsible for the C/O Berlin Talent Award, which supports emerging artists and theorists exploring new strategies in documentary photography.
Michel Kekulé grew up with East and West German roots. He lives in Berlin and works documentarily on migration, social inequality and East German spaces of experience. He has been studying at the Ostkreuz School of Photography since 2021 and will graduate in summer 2025.
Franciska JC Schmitt is a freelance art and visual studies scholar. She mainly deals with visual everyday phenomena and their socio-political coding as well as artistic reappraisals of the National Socialist past, primarily in photography, new media and moving images.
Daniel Seiffert, born and raised in East Berlin, studied political and media studies as well as African studies and then photography at the Ostkreuzschule. He was awarded as a Talent by C/O Berlin in 2012 with his graduation project Kraftwerk Jugend which was subsequently exhibited many times. He works as a photographer and photo editor in Berlin.
