It’s that time again – the MUBI Night at C/O Berlin is just around the corner!
Join us in celebrating outstanding works by women behind the camera in film and photography, exploring the many ways they engage with closeness and distance – both spatially and emotionally. Early visitors can look forward to a special giveaway and a complimentary drink. With her DJ Set Natalie Robinson will provide the perfect soundtrack for the evening.
As the highlight of the night, we’ll be screening the iconic film Working Girls (1986) by Lizzie Borden – part of the film series CLOSE ENOUGH: PERSPECTIVES BY WOMEN FILMMAKERS, curated by MUBI especially for the exhibition.
Lizzie Borden portrays sex workers from an explicitly feminist perspective — with respect, aesthetics, and dignity. The screenwriter and director takes a clear, unflinching look at the everyday realities of sex work, beyond clichés, scandal, and myth. With a keen sense of rhythm and observation, the film tells of routines, conversations, and moments that oscillate between closeness and distance. Borden is interested in the tensions between labor and intimacy, body and control, self-determination and social expectation.
MUBI is a global streaming service, film distributor and production company. MUBI produces, curates, acquires and celebrates visionary films and brings them to people all over the world
Please note The cinema auditorium will be closed during the screening. This part of the exhibition is expected to be accessible again one hour afterwards.
