On the occasion of the exhibition The Lure of the Image, C/O Berlin and MUBI bring MUBI’s curated film series THE LURE OF THE IMAGE: DIGITAL WORLDS to the courtyard of Amerika Haus as an open-air cinema program. With Hysteria (2025) by Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay, the series presents a tense drama about images, suspicion, and the power of competing narratives.

A film shoot takes a dark turn when the burning of a Quran throws the crew into turmoil. Intern Elif is caught between conflicting accusations and becomes increasingly entangled in secrets, lies, and an all-consuming conspiracy.

Following the screening, there will be a Talk with lead actress Devrim Lingnau Islamoğlu and Marie Kloos, Programming Director Europe at MUBI.

Devrim Lingnau Islamoğlu (b. 1998, Mannheim) studied fine art in Karlsruhe in Ulla von Brandenburg’s class, receiving her diploma in 2024. Her breakthrough came as Empress Elisabeth in Netflix’s The Empress, earning her the Deutscher Schauspielpreis in 2023 and selection as a European Shooting Star in 2025. Her film work includes the features Auerhaus (2019), Hysteria (2023), Lady Nazca (2024), and the Cannes-screened short Immakulata (2023).
