25 YEARS TAKING CARE OF PHOTOGRAPHY

C/O Berlin is celebrating its twenty-fifth birthday! For a quarter of a century, the exhibition venue has focused on wide-ranging topics and perspectives of photography and visual media with great commitment and openness.

What began in 2000 as a private initiative at Berlin’s historic Postfuhramt took C/O Berlin to Linienstrasse, then back to the Postfuhramt, before relocating to Amerika Haus in 2014. Each location shaped the institution’s development, from the first retrospective on the Magnum photo agency at the Postfuhramt to a focus on documentary photography at Linienstrasse, the presentation of internationally renowned artists as well as the launch of the Talent Award back at the Postfuhramt.

Today, the Amerika Haus is home to C/O Berlin, a venue for exhibitions, emerging talent, education, and discourse on photography. With over 250 exhibitions featuring more than 500 artists and support for over 90 young talents, C/O Berlin has established itself as an internationally recognized institution for visual media.

C/O Berlin remains dedicated to strengthening photography and visual media in cultural discourse and aims to contribute to visual literacy through innovative formats.

How It All Began
