In the straitlaced 1950s and 1960s, cross-dressing men and trans women found temporary refuge, community, and joy gathering at a house in the Catskills. The documentary, which recently premiered at the Venice Biennale and is now being shown in Germany for the first time, explores this vibrant group through archival images and interviews with Casa Susanna’s witnesses.
There will be a Q&A with Sébastien Lifshitz and Thomas Abeltshauser after the film screening.
