Inspired by the exhibition Dream On—Berlin, the 90s, the participants will be familiarized with the photographic varieties of street photography. Around Bahnhof Zoo, they will explore the countless subjects that the inner-city landscape and society has to offer with a keen eye in order to find the right moment for a successful shot. Whether it's a street scene, a play of light and shadow, a passer-by or architecture - the young photographers determine the subject themselves.
The collected photographic snapshots of the city then serve as a basis for putting together associative pairs of images. With the help of printouts, a selection is first made haptically and pairs of images are sought in which visual connections and associative moments are created. Photoshop and InDesign are then used to implement on the computer what was tried out on the table with paper and scissors. At the end, a small booklet is designed with the participants' own images, which they can take home with them.
Julia Albrecht is a conceptual photographic artist focusing on psychological and cultural aspects of depression and trauma as well as gender dynamics and binary relationships. Her approaches aim to explore and visualize the complex emotional impact of these issues. She completed her studies in Media Art and Design at the Bauhaus University Weimar and deepened her expertise through a Master's degree in Fine Art Photography at the Royal College of Art in London. During her academic career, she broadened her perspective through international study experiences at TAMK University in Tampere, Finland, and at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Julian Hemelberg was born in Zipaquirá, Colombia. In 2003, he completed his studies and training in photo production at the University Jorge Tadeo Lozano in Bogota. In 2011, he exhibited his work in “Una mirada en un viaje a Berlin”, a production in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut in Bogota for the whole of Latin America. He then moved to Berlin and studied photo design at the Lette-Verein. He works as a freelance photographer for RBB and as Photographer & Lightning in various photo, music and film productions in Berlin.
