In The Invisibles, French lesbians and gays passionately and honestly tell the stories of how they found themselves, how they discovered love, and how they fought for their place in society. They were born between the world wars, growing up in a society in which it was not possible to say that you were "different". In the late 1960s, they found the courage to break through their invisibility and to declare that they also had lives worth living. Sébastien Lifshitz made this warm, multifaceted film at a time when opponents of gay marriage were protesting in the streets in France. The Invisibles was awarded the César Award for best documentary in 2013.
