The seven-year-old Sasha always knew that she was a girl, even though she had been assigned male at birth. While her loving parents give her their full support, her teachers are not able to think outside the rigid boxes of girls and boys. For Sasha this means a daily struggle fight to be seen and accepted by her peers as the person she really is. Sébastien Lifshitz accompanied little Sasha and her parents with his camera for an entire year. Since its premiere in the Panorama section of the Berlinale, Little Girl has received many awards, including the Grand Prix of the Film Fest Ghent and the Film Prize for Children’s Rights of the Unabhängiges FilmFest Osnabrück.
