Inspired by the current exhibitions of Dörte Eißfeldt and Graciela Iturbide, workshop participants immerse themselves for two days in the captivating world of analog photography. The process involves not only creating but also exploring and experimenting intensively. In the darkroom, there are various opportunities, such as producing contact sheets or creatively manipulating negatives. Techniques like scratching, darkening, or distorting allow participants to discover and reinterpret the unique qualities of analog photographic work. This results in individual artworks that are then digitally processed and printed. In this way, analog and digital techniques merge to create entirely new and exciting visual worlds.
Iris Janke (*1975, Munich) studied Visual Communication in Berlin and Fine Arts in Stockholm. She completed training as a photo editor at the Ostkreuz School of Photography. Since 2014, she has been working as a workshop leader in the Education Team at C/O Berlin, where she has realized several exhibitions and publications, particularly within the Perspectives program, as part of her workshop leadership.
